Casting Study: DragonFly (TM) camp stove – Mountain Safety Research
The original fuel fitting design was an assembly of three screw-machined components–a brass orifice, an aluminum stop block and lock mount, and a stainless steel hose barb. By redesigning the assembly as a one-piece zinc die casting, a 56 percent cost reduction was achieved. The critical function areas include the orifice’s o-ring seat area, which has zero draft, and the fitting’s diameter, which is held to +/-0.002 in.
