Casting Study: Spot Lamp Body

By using hot chamber pressure die casting for this product, Fos Nova SpA obtained excellent results both functionally and aesthetically while saving on production costs. Of special interest in this part is that the casting was fed through the central opening, which enabled a highly reflective surface to be obtained on the parabolic section of the casting without manual polishing. The excellent thermal conductivity of zinc, aided by thin cooling fins on the back surface of the casting, enabled the heat generated in operation to be sufficiently dissipated, keeping temperatures within acceptable limits. Using pressure die casting also greatly simplified the machining required and the subsequent assembly operations while maintaining the quality and effectiveness of the part.
