Casting Study: Light Fittings

Zinc alloy pressure die castings in alloy Z 410 (BS1004B) are used to produce a wide range of light fittings, varying from small individual lights to multi-light chandeliers. A selection of lights is shown here, ranging from small bronze plated lights, gold plated fittings based on castings weighing 100g, through tin plated lights based on castings weighing 210g, and bronze plated fittings using castings of 320 and 550g respectively. The wall thicknesses of the zinc castings range from 0.8 – 3 mm. The finishes illustrated are representative of the variety available: all popular chemical and plated surface finishes can be applied to zinc alloy.
